Unconjugated
Immunogen
PARL antibody was raised against a 15 amino acid synthetic peptide from near the amino terminus of human PARL.
Buffer
PARL Antibody is supplied in PBS containing 0.02% sodium azide.
Preparation and Storage
PARL antibody can be stored at 4 degree C for three months and -20 degree C, stable for up to one year. As with all antibodies care should be taken to avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles. Antibodies should not be exposed to prolonged high temperatures.

Related Product Information for anti-PARL antibody
PARL Antibody: PARL is a mitochondrial integral membrane protein and a member of the highly conserved rhomboid superfamily of membrane proteins. PARL is required for the control of apoptosis during postnatal growth and is required for the processing of OPA1, a protein that prevents the release of cytochrome C from the mitochondria in response to apoptotic signals. In lymphocytes and neurons, PARL's association with other proteins, such as the Bcl-2 family-related protein Hax1 and Omi can lead to the proteolytic processing of Omi by PARL, preventing the accumulation of Bax, thereby suppressing apoptosis. Variations in this gene have been associated with increased risk for type 2 diabetes. PARL may also play a role in the progression of Alzheimer's disease through its associations with presenilin-1 and -2. Multiple isoforms of PARL are known to exist.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a mitochondrial integral membrane protein. Following proteolytic processing of this protein, a small peptide (P-beta) is formed and translocated to the nucleus. This gene may be involved in signal transduction via regulated intramembrane proteolysis of membrane-tethered precursor proteins. Variation in this gene has been associated with increased risk for type 2 diabetes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PSARL: a mitochondrial intramembrane protease that is associated with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Induced in humans by caloric restriction. Required for the control of apoptosis during postnatal growth. Essential for proteolytic processing of an antiapoptotic form of OPA1 which prevents the release of mitochondrial cytochrome c in response to intrinsic apoptotic signals. Promotes changes in mitochondria morphology regulated by phosphorylation of P-beta domain. Induced in humans by caloric restriction. Interacts with PSEN1 and PSEN2. Binds OPA1. Two isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The PARL parl (Catalog #AAA150055) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PARL Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PARL can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). PARL antibody can be used for detection of PARL by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/mL. Despite its predicted molecular weight of ~42kDa, PARL is observed at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE. Antibody can also be used for immunocytochemistry starting at 2.5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PARL parl for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PARL, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
