Related Product Information for anti-OVGP1 antibody
Oviductins belong to a family of glycoproteins that have been suggested to play several roles during the early processes of reproduction. OVGP1 is a large carbohydrate-rich, epithelial glycoprotein with numerous O-glycosylation sites within threonine, serine, and proline-rich tandem repeats. The protein is secreted from non-ciliated oviductal epithelial cells and associates with ovulated oocytes, blastomeres, and spermatozoan acrosomal regions. Despite its predicted molecular weight, OVGP1 will often run at higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE. At least two isoforms of OVGP are known to exist.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a large, carbohydrate-rich, epithelial glycoprotein with numerous O-glycosylation sites located within threonine, serine, and proline-rich tandem repeats. The gene is similar to members of the mucin and the glycosyl hydrolase 18 gene families. Regulation of expression may be estrogen-dependent. Gene expression and protein secretion occur during late follicular development through early cleavage-stage embryonic development. The protein is secreted from non-ciliated oviductal epithelial cells and associates with ovulated oocytes, blastomeres, and spermatozoan acrosomal regions. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

OVGP1: Binds to oocyte zona pellucida in vivo. May play a role in the fertilization process and/or early embryonic development. Belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 18 family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p13

Cellular Component: transport vesicle; extracellular region; cytosol

Molecular Function: chitin binding; chitinase activity

Biological Process: binding of sperm to zona pellucida; single fertilization; carbohydrate metabolic process; female pregnancy; chitin catabolic process; multicellular organism reproduction

Product Notes

The OVGP1 ovgp1 (Catalog #AAA642356) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The OVGP1, NT (Oviduct-specific Glycoprotein, Estrogen-dependent Oviduct Protein, Mucin-9, Oviductal Glycoprotein, Oviductin, MUC9, OGP) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's OVGP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OVGP1 ovgp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "OVGP1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
