Related Product Information for anti-OST-beta antibody
The heteromeric transporter OST Alpha OST Beta facilitates the transport of bile and other steroid solutes across the basolateral epithelial cell membrane of intestine, liver, testis, kidney and adrenal gland. OST Alpha OST Beta expression is induced by bile acids through ligand-dependent transactivation of their genes by FXR (Farnesoid X-activated receptor). This genetic regulation suggests that in response to changes in intracellular bile acid levels, bile acids adjust the rate of their own efflux from enterocytes. OST Beta is a 128 amino acid single-pass transmembrane protein that requires OST Alpha to localize to the plasma membrane. Coexpression of OST Alpha and OST Beta is also required to convert the OST Alpha subunit to a mature glycosylated endoglycosidase H-resistant form, suggesting that co-expression facilitates trafficking of OST Alpha through the golgi apparatus. Though widely expressed, OST Beta is present at highest levels in ileum.

Uniprot Description

Ostb: Essential component of the Ost-alpha/Ost-beta complex, a heterodimer that acts as the intestinal basolateral transporter responsible for bile acid export from enterocytes into portal blood. Efficiently transports the major species of bile acids. Modulates SLC51A glycosylation, membrane trafficking and stability activities. Belongs to the OST-beta family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 15q22.31

Cellular Component: protein complex; plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: protein heterodimerization activity; transporter activity

Biological Process: bile acid and bile salt transport; positive regulation of protein amino acid glycosylation; regulation of protein stability

Product Notes

The OST-beta slc51b (Catalog #AAA9460936) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The OST-beta Antibody HRP Conjugated reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's OST-beta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). WB: 1:100-1000 IHC: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OST-beta slc51b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "OST-beta, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
