NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a G-protein coupled receptor involved in the regulation of feeding behavior. The encoded protein selectively binds the hypothalamic neuropeptide orexin A. A related gene (HCRTR2) encodes a G-protein coupled receptor that binds orexin A and orexin B. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2009]

Uniprot Description

HCRTR1: Moderately selective excitatory receptor for orexin-A and, with a lower affinity, for orexin-B neuropeptide. Seems to be exclusively coupled to the G(q) subclass of heteromeric G proteins, which activates the phospholipase C mediated signaling cascade. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

Protein type: Receptor, GPCR; GPCR, family 1; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p33

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; neuropeptide receptor activity; orexin receptor activity; peptide binding; peptide hormone binding

Biological Process: cellular response to hormone stimulus; feeding behavior; neuropeptide signaling pathway; regulation of circadian sleep/wake cycle, sleep; synaptic transmission

Product Notes

The HCRTR1 hcrtr1 (Catalog #AAA422563) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-Orexin receptor 1 Antibody reacts with Tested: Human; Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Orexin receptor 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 8000. Western Blot: Approx 48+35kDa band observed in Human Brain lysates (calculated MW of 47.5kDa according to NP_001516.1). The observed molecular weight corresponds to earlier findings in literature with different antibodies (Silveyra et al, Am J Physiol Endocrinol Metab.2007 Oct;293(4): E977-85; PMID: 17638707). Recommended concentration: 0.1-0.3ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HCRTR1 hcrtr1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: RNWKRPSDQL GD. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Orexin receptor 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
