Related Product Information for anti-OPRM1 antibody
Opioid receptors are G-protein coupled receptors. Most actions of exogenous opioids, such as morphine, are mediated through the mu-opioid receptor, including analgesia, tolerance and reward. In general, opioids modulate numerous central and peripheral processes including pain perception, neuroendocrine secretion and the immune response. The opioid signal is transduced from receptors through G proteins to various different effectors. Subsequent to G protein activation, several effectors are known to orchestrate the opioid signal. For example, activation of opioid receptors increases phosphatidyl-inositol turnover, activates K+ channels and reduces adenylyl cyclase and Ca++ channel activities.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes one of three opioid receptors. The mu opioid receptor is the principal target of endogenous opioid peptides and opioid analgesic agents such a s beta-endorphn and enkephalins. The NM_001008503.1:c.118A>G allele had been associated with opioid and alcohol addiction and variations in pain sensitivity but evidence is conflicting. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2012]

Uniprot Description

MOR-1: a Gi-protein-coupled receptor for beta-endorphin, morphine and other opiates. Inhibits neurotransmitter release by reducing calcium ion currents and increasing potassium ion conductance. Ligand-binding inactivates adenylyl cyclase, and activates a variety of G-beta-gamma-dependent pathways including the MAPK and the PI3K/Akt cascades. Two splice-variant isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The OPRM1 oprm1 (Catalog #AAA642183) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Opioid Receptor, mu, CT, aa391-398 (MOR1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Opioid Receptor, mu, aa391-398 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC). Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunocytochemistry. Dilution: ELISA: 20ug/ml Western Blot: 50ug/ml. Please note that this antibody requires a low dilution for Western Blot. Immunocytochemistry: 20ug/ml. This antibody has been found to stain specific cells in various regions of PLP fixed rat brain sections known to express the mu opioid receptor using ABC techniques. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OPRM1 oprm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Opioid Receptor, mu, aa391-398, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
