Related Product Information for anti-OGR1/GPR68 antibody
OGR1 (originally identified as GPR68) is a high-affinity receptor for sphingosylphosphorylcholine (SPC). SPC is a member of a class of bioactive lipids which regulate cellular functions. These functions include cell proliferation and growth inhibition, smooth muscle contration and wound healing. SPC also stimulated signalling pathways that induce tyrosine phosphorylation, activate MAP kinases and protein kinase C, modify ion channel activity and increase intracellular Ca2+ concentration. OGR1 is expressed in placenta, lung, liver, spleen, testis, small intestine and peripheral blood leukocytes. It is not found in thymus, ovary, colon, skeletal muscle, kidney or pancreas.

Uniprot Description

Function: Proton-sensing receptor involved in pH homeostasis. May represents an osteoblastic pH sensor regulating cell-mediated responses to acidosis in bone. Mediates its action by association with G proteins that stimulates inositol phosphate (IP) production or Ca2+ mobilization. The receptor is almost silent at pH 7.8 but fully activated at pH 6.8. Function also as a metastasis suppressor gene in prostate cancer

By similarity. Ref.8 Ref.10

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: Found at low level in a wide range of tissues, but significantly expressed in lung, kidney, bone and nervous system. Ref.10

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

Caution: Was originally (Ref.8) thought to be a receptor for sphingosylphosphorylcholine (SPC). However, this work has been retracted (Ref.9).

Product Notes

The OGR1/GPR68 gpr68 (Catalog #AAA395776) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The OGR1/GPR68 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's OGR1/GPR68 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Iimmunohistochemistry (IHC), Neutralization. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OGR1/GPR68 gpr68 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "OGR1/GPR68, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
