Related Product Information for anti-NPL antibody
This is a rabbit polyclonal antibody against NPL. It was validated on Western Blot

Target Description: This gene encodes a member of the N-acetylneuraminate lyase sub-family of (beta/alpha)(8)-barrel enzymes. N-acetylneuraminate lyases regulate cellular concentrations of N-acetyl-neuraminic acid (sialic acid) by mediating the reversible conversion of sialic acid into N-acetylmannosamine and pyruvate. A pseudogene of this gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 2. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the N-acetylneuraminate lyase sub-family of (beta/alpha)(8)-barrel enzymes. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]

Uniprot Description

NPL: Catalyzes the cleavage of N-acetylneuraminic acid (sialic acid) to form pyruvate and N-acetylmannosamine via a Schiff base intermediate. It prevents sialic acids from being recycled and returning to the cell surface. Belongs to the DHDPS family. NanA subfamily. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Lyase; Carbohydrate Metabolism - amino sugar and nucleotide sugar; EC 4.1.3.3

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q25

Cellular Component: cytosol

Molecular Function: N-acetylneuraminate lyase activity

Biological Process: N-acetylneuraminate catabolic process; cellular protein metabolic process; dolichol-linked oligosaccharide biosynthetic process; protein amino acid N-linked glycosylation via asparagine; post-translational protein modification

Product Notes

The NPL npl (Catalog #AAA3215928) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NPL antibody - N-terminal region reacts with Cow, Dog, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Pig, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NPL can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NPL npl for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: SERRQVAEEW VTKGKDKLDQ VIIHVGALSL KESQELAQHA AEIGADGIAV. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NPL, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
