NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein from the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. This protein is a receptor for neuromedin U, which is a neuropeptide that is widely distributed in the gut and central nervous system. This receptor plays an important role in the regulation of food intake and body weight. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Receptor for the neuromedin-U and neuromedin-S neuropeptides

By similarity. Ref.2

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.

Tissue specificity: Predominantly expressed in the CNS, particularly in the medulla oblongata, pontine reticular formation, spinal cord, and thalamus. High level in testis whereas lower levels are present in a variety of peripheral tissues including the gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract, liver, pancreas, adrenal gland, thyroid gland, lung, trachea, spleen and thymus. Ref.1 Ref.2 Ref.3 Ref.6

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

Caution: It is uncertain whether Met-1 or Met-4 is the initiator.

Sequence caution: The sequence BAB13721.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally extended.

Product Notes

The NMUR2 nmur2 (Catalog #AAA647575) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NMUR2, NT (Neuromedin-U Receptor 2, NMU-R2, G-protein Coupled Receptor FM-4, G-protein Coupled Receptor TGR-1, NMU2R, TGR1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NMUR2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 20ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NMUR2 nmur2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NMUR2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
