NCBI Description

subunit of the NMDA receptor glutamate gated ion channel; displays voltage dependent sensitivity to magnesium, calcium permeability, and glycine regulated activity; may facilitate learning and long term potentiation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

NMDAR2B: an NMDA receptor subtype of glutamate-gated ion channels with high calcium permeability and voltage-dependent sensitivity to magnesium. Mediated by glycine. Plays a key role in synaptic plasticity, synaptogenesis, excitotoxicity, memory acquisition and learning. Mediates neuronal functions in glutamate neurotransmission. In concert with DAPK1 at extrasynaptic sites, acts as a central mediator for stroke damage. Its phosphorylation at Ser-1303 by DAPK1 enhances synaptic NMDA receptor channel activity inducing injurious Ca2+ influx through them, resulting in an irreversible neuronal death.

Product Notes

The NMDANR2B grin2b (Catalog #AAA9410761) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The NMDANR2B Subunit Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NMDANR2B Subunit can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western blotting: 1:500~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NMDANR2B grin2b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NMDANR2B Subunit, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
