Related Product Information for anti-NKX2-5 antibody
Cardiac-specific Nkx2-5 is a member of the NK2 family of homeodomain-containing transcription factors, and its expression and functions overlap with those of GATA4, GATA5, and GATA6 during cardiovascular genesis, especially in the regulation of target gene expression synergistically with GATA4, which justifies screening for Nkx2-5 as a prime candidate gene for idiopathic AF (Atrial Fibrillation). NKX2-5 plays an important role in heart formation and development. Moreover, NKX2-5 not only individually acts in transcriptional regulation, but also interacts with other transcription factors in the early stage of cardiac development.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a homeobox-containing transcription factor. This transcription factor functions in heart formation and development. Mutations in this gene cause atrial septal defect with atrioventricular conduction defect, and also tetralogy of Fallot, which are both heart malformation diseases. Mutations in this gene can also cause congenital hypothyroidism non-goitrous type 5, a non-autoimmune condition. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

Uniprot Description

NKX2-5: Implicated in commitment to and/or differentiation of the myocardial lineage. Acts as a transcriptional activator of ANF in cooperation with GATA4. Interacts with HIPK1 and HIPK2, but not HIPK3. Interacts with the C-terminal zinc finger of GATA4 through its homeobox domain. Also interacts with JARID2 which represses its ability to activate transcription of ANF. Interacts with FBLIM1. Expressed only in the heart. Belongs to the NK-2 homeobox family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The NKX2-5 nkx2-5 (Catalog #AAA668731) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to NKX2-5 reacts with Human Predicted: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's NKX2-5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 2-4 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NKX2-5 nkx2-5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "NKX2-5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
