Related Product Information for anti-VGF antibody
VGF encodes a 70kD polypeptide that shares similarities with the secretogranin/ chromogranin family and is found in the secretory granules of subsets of neurons and endocrine cells. Expression of VGF is both developmentally regulated and in regulated in different brain regions in response to different stimuli. VGF has been shown to play a role in energy homeostasis. Expression of VGF in the hypothalamus of rats and mice is induced by exercise and in response to fasting.

NCBI Description

This gene is specifically expressed in a subpopulation of neuroendocrine cells, and is upregulated by nerve growth factor. The structural organization of this gene is similar to that of the rat gene, and both the translated and the untranslated regions show a high degree of sequence similarity to the rat gene. The encoded secretory protein also shares similarities with the secretogranin/chromogranin family, however, its exact function is not known. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes

The VGF vgf (Catalog #AAA642635) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Neurosecretory Protein VGF, CT (VGF) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Neurosecretory Protein VGF can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: ELISA: 1:40,000 Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VGF vgf for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Neurosecretory Protein VGF, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
