Preparation and Storage
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 4°C for frequent use.
Aliquot and store at -20°C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the natriuretic peptide family. Natriuretic peptides are implicated in the control of extracellular fluid volume and electrolyte homeostasis. This protein is synthesized as a large precursor (containing a signal peptide), which is processed to release a peptide from the N-terminus with similarity to vasoactive peptide, cardiodilatin, and another peptide from the C-terminus with natriuretic-diuretic activity. Mutations in this gene have been associated with atrial fibrillation familial type 6. This gene is located adjacent to another member of the natriuretic family of peptides on chromosome 1. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]

Uniprot Description

NPPA: Hormone playing a key role in cardiovascular homeostasis through regulation of natriuresis, diuresis, and vasodilation. Also plays a role in female pregnancy by promoting trophoblast invasion and spiral artery remodeling in uterus. Specifically binds and stimulates the cGMP production of the NPR1 receptor. Binds the clearance receptor NPR3. Defects in NPPA are the cause of familial atrial fibrillation type 6 (ATFB6). Atrial fibrillation is a common disorder of cardiac rhythm that is hereditary in a small subgroup of patients. It is characterized by disorganized atrial electrical activity, progressive deterioration of atrial electromechanical function and ineffective pumping of blood into the ventricles. It can be associated with palpitations, syncope, thromboembolic stroke, and congestive heart failure. Belongs to the natriuretic peptide family.

Protein type: Hormone; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Product Notes

The NT-ProANP nppa (Catalog #AAA2025901) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to N-Terminal Pro-Atrial Natriuretic Peptide (NT-ProANP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's N-Terminal Pro-Atrial can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, WB; IHC; ICC; IP. Western blotting: 0.5-2µg/mL Immunohistochemistry: 5-20µg/mL Immunocytochemistry: 5-20µg/mL Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user . Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NT-ProANP nppa for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "N-Terminal Pro-Atrial, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
