Related Product Information for anti-MVP antibody
MVP (Major Vault Protein) is a Protein Coding gene. This gene encodes the major component of the vault complex. The encoded protein may play a role in multiple cellular processes by regulating the MAP kinase, JAK/STAT, and phosphoinositide 3-kinase/Akt signaling pathways. MVP is a ribonucleoprotein comprising a major part (>70%) of the vault particle. The human MVP is also known as lung resistance-related protein (LRP) represents the predominant component of vaults that may be involved in the defense against xenobiotics. The human MVP has been implicated in the development of drug resistance in cancer cells. MVP has been implicated in multidrug resistance, cellular transport, and malignant transformation. Overexpression of MVP has also been reported in brain tissue samples from the antiepileptic drug (AED)-resistant human focal epilepsies.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the major component of the vault complex. Vaults are multi-subunit ribonucleoprotein structures that may be involved in nucleo-cytoplasmic transport. The encoded protein may play a role in multiple cellular processes by regulating the MAP kinase, JAK/STAT and phosphoinositide 3-kinase/Akt signaling pathways. The encoded protein also plays a role in multidrug resistance, and expression of this gene may be a prognostic marker for several types of cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]

Uniprot Description

MVP: Required for normal vault structure. Vaults are multi- subunit structures that may act as scaffolds for proteins involved in signal transduction. Vaults may also play a role in nucleo- cytoplasmic transport. Down-regulates INFG-mediated STAT1 signaling and subsequent activation of JAK. Down-regulates SRC activity and signaling through MAP kinases.

Product Notes

The MVP mvp (Catalog #AAA8101783) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-MVP Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MVP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1:500-1:2000 ICC/IF: 1:300-1:10,000 IP: 1-4uL/mg of lysate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MVP mvp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MVP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
