NCBI Description

This gene plays a role in DNA interstrand cross-link repair and encodes a protein with 5' flap endonuclease and 5'-3' exonuclease activity. Mutations in this gene cause karyomegalic interstitial nephritis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]

Uniprot Description

FAN1: Nuclease required for maintenance of chromosomal stability. Plays a key role in DNA repair of DNA interstrand cross-links (ICL) by being recruited to sites of DNA damage by monoubiquitinated FANCD2. Specifically involved in repair of ICL- induced DNA breaks by being required for efficient homologous recombination, possibly in the resolution of homologous recombination intermediates. Not involved in DNA double-strand breaks resection. Has both endonuclease activity toward 5'-flaps and 5'-exonuclease activity: may act in concert with the 3'-flap- specific enzymes to unhook the ICL by cleaving the lagging-strand template. Belongs to the FAN1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The MTMR15 fan1 (Catalog #AAA7601642) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MTMR15 Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MTMR15 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MTMR15 fan1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MTMR15, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
