Related Product Information for anti-MLYCD antibody
Catalyzes the conversion of malonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA. In the fatty acid biosynthesis MCD selectively removes malonyl-CoA and thus assures that methyl-malonyl-CoA is the only chain elongating substrate for fatty acid synthase and that fatty acids with multiple methyl side chains are produced. In peroxisomes it may be involved in degrading intraperoxisomal malonyl-CoA, which is generated by the peroxisomal beta-oxidation of odd chain-length dicarboxylic fatty acids. Plays a role in the metabolic balance between glucose and lipid oxidation in muscle independent of alterations in insulin signaling. May play a role in controlling the extent of ischemic injury by promoting glucose oxidation.

NCBI Description

The product of this gene catalyzes the breakdown of malonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA and carbon dioxide. Malonyl-CoA is an intermediate in fatty acid biosynthesis, and also inhibits the transport of fatty acyl CoAs into mitochondria. Consequently, the encoded protein acts to increase the rate of fatty acid oxidation. It is found in mitochondria, peroxisomes, and the cytoplasm. Mutations in this gene result in malonyl-CoA decarboyxlase deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

MLYCD: Catalyzes the conversion of malonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA. Defects in MLYCD are the cause of malonyl-CoA decarboxylase deficiency (MLYCD deficiency). MLYCD deficiency is an autosomal recessive disease characterized by abdominal pain, chronic constipation, episodic vomiting, metabolic acidosis and malonic aciduria.

Product Notes

The MLYCD mlycd (Catalog #AAA7048672) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MLYCD Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MLYCD can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). WB: 1: 2000-1: 5000 IHC: 1: 20-1: 200 IF: 1: 50-1: 200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MLYCD mlycd for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MLYCD, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
