Related Product Information for anti-MKRN1 antibody
The Makorin ring finger protein-1 gene (MKRN1) is a highly transcribed, intron-containing source for a family of intronless mammalian genes encoding a novel class of zinc finger proteins. Phylogenetic analyses indicate that the MKRN1 gene is the ancestral founder of this gene family (Gray et al., 2000 [PubMed 10843807]).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to a novel class of zinc finger proteins. The encoded protein functions as a transcriptional co-regulator, and as an E3 ubiquitin ligase that promotes the ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of target proteins. The protein encoded by this gene is thought to regulate RNA polymerase II-catalyzed transcription. Substrates for this protein's E3 ubiquitin ligase activity include the capsid protein of the West Nile virus and the catalytic subunit of the telomerase ribonucleoprotein. This protein controls cell cycle arrest and apoptosis by regulating p21, a cell cycle regulator, and the tumor suppressor protein p53. Pseudogenes of this gene are present on chromosomes 1, 3, 9, 12 and 20, and on the X chromosome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]

Uniprot Description

MKRN1: E3 ubiquitin ligase catalyzing the covalent attachment of ubiquitin moieties onto substrate proteins. These substrates include FILIP1, p53/TP53, CDKN1A and TERT. Keeps cells alive by suppressing p53/TP53 under normal conditions, but stimulates apoptosis by repressing CDKN1A under stress conditions. Acts as a negative regulator of telomerase. Has negative and positive effects on RNA polymerase II-dependent transcription. 4 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Ubiquitin conjugating system; Ligase; EC 6.3.2.19; EC 6.3.2.-; Ubiquitin ligase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q34

Molecular Function: protein binding; zinc ion binding; ubiquitin-protein ligase activity; chromatin binding; ligase activity

Biological Process: protein polyubiquitination

Product Notes

The MKRN1 mkrn1 (Catalog #AAA6321002) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MKRN1, ID (MKRN1, RNF61, E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase makorin-1, RING finger protein 61) (Azide free) (HRP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MKRN1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:100-500 ELISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MKRN1 mkrn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MKRN1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
