NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the dual specificity protein phosphatase subfamily. These phosphatases inactivate their target kinases by dephosphorylating both the phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. They negatively regulate members of the mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase superfamily (MAPK/ERK, SAPK/JNK, p38), which are associated with cellular proliferation and differentiation. Different members of the family of dual specificity phosphatases show distinct substrate specificities for various MAP kinases, different tissue distribution and subcellular localization, and different modes of inducibility of their expression by extracellular stimuli. This gene product inactivates ERK2, is expressed in a variety of tissues with the highest levels in heart and pancreas, and unlike most other members of this family, is localized in the cytoplasm. Mutations in this gene have been associated with congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2014]
Uniprot Description
MKP-3: a non-receptor, dual-specificity phosphoprotein phosphatase. Different members of the DUSP family show distinct substrate specificities for MAPKs, different tissue distribution and subcellular localization, and different modes of inducibility of their expression by extracellular stimuli. This protein inactivates ERK2, is expressed in a variety of tissues with the highest levels in heart and pancreas, and unlike most other members of this family, is localized in the cytoplasm. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Product Notes
The MKP-3 dusp6 (Catalog #AAA9412944) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MKP-3 antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MKP-3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western blotting: 1:500-1:3000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MKP-3 dusp6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MKP-3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
