Related Product Information for anti-MKL1 antibody
The protein encoded by this gene interacts with the
transcription factor myocardin, a key regulator of smooth muscle
cell differentiation. The encoded protein is predominantly nuclear
and may help transduce signals from the cytoskeleton to the
nucleus. This gene is involved in a specific translocation event
that creates a fusion of this gene and the RNA-binding motif
protein-15 gene. This translocation has been associated with acute
megakaryocytic leukemia.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene interacts with the transcription factor myocardin, a key regulator of smooth muscle cell differentiation. The encoded protein is predominantly nuclear and may help transduce signals from the cytoskeleton to the nucleus. This gene is involved in a specific translocation event that creates a fusion of this gene and the RNA-binding motif protein-15 gene. This translocation has been associated with acute megakaryocytic leukemia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2013]

Uniprot Description

MKL1: Transcriptional coactivator of serum response factor (SRF) with the potential to modulate SRF target genes. Suppresses TNF-induced cell death by inhibiting activation of caspases; its transcriptional activity is indispensable for the antiapoptotic function. It may up-regulate antiapoptotic molecules, which in turn inhibit caspase activation. Forms with SCAI and SRF a nuclear ternary complex which binds the CArG consensus motif (CArG box) on DNA via SRF. Interacts with ACTB; interaction with ACTB prevents interaction with SCAI. Interacts with MKL2. Ubiquitously expressed, has been detected in lung, placenta, small intestine, liver, kidney, spleen, thymus, colon, muscle, heart and brain.

Protein type: Oncoprotein; Transcription, coactivator/corepressor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: actin monomer binding; protein binding; leucine zipper domain binding; transcription coactivator activity; actin binding; transcription factor activity

Biological Process: transcription, DNA-dependent; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; smooth muscle cell differentiation; negative regulation of caspase activity

Product Notes

The MKL1 mkl1 (Catalog #AAA9208528) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 497-525. The MKL1 Antibody (Center) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MKL1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MKL1 mkl1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MKL1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
