NCBI Description

This gene is one of several cytokine genes that are clustered on the q-arm of chromosome 17. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins that function in inflammatory and immunoregulatory processes. The protein encoded by this family member is similar to the chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 4 product, which inhibits HIV entry by binding to the cellular receptor CCR5. The copy number of this gene varies among individuals, where most individuals have one to five copies. This gene copy contains a non-consensus splice acceptor site at the 3' terminal exon found in other highly similar gene copies, and it thus uses other alternative splice sites for the 3' terminal exon, resulting in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]

Uniprot Description

CCL4L1: Chemokine that induces chemotaxis of cells expressing CCR5 or CCR1. Inhibits HIV replication in peripheral blood monocytes that express CCR5. Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family. 10 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Secreted; Chemokine; Secreted, signal peptide; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q12

Product Notes

The MIP-1b ccl4l1 (Catalog #AAA4755165) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MIP-1b Rabbit pAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MIP-1b can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 ELISA: 1:10,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MIP-1b ccl4l1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MIP-1b, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
