NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that was first identified in Xenopus laevis by its role in a mesoderm induction early response (MIER). The encoded protein functions as a transcriptional regulator. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encode multiple isoforms, some of which lack a C-terminal nuclear localization signal. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]

Uniprot Description

CHKA: Has a key role in phospholipid biosynthesis and may contribute to tumor cell growth. Catalyzes the first step in phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis. Contributes to phosphatidylethanolamine biosynthesis. Phosphorylates choline and ethanolamine. Has higher activity with choline. Belongs to the choline/ethanolamine kinase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Lipid Metabolism - glycerophospholipid; EC 2.7.1.82; Kinase, other; EC 2.7.1.32

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q13.2

Cellular Component: cytosol

Molecular Function: choline binding; signal transducer activity; protein homodimerization activity; cholinesterase activity; drug binding; ethanolamine kinase activity; choline kinase activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: choline metabolic process; CDP-choline pathway; phospholipid metabolic process; glycerophospholipid biosynthetic process; phosphatidylethanolamine biosynthetic process; phosphatidylcholine biosynthetic process; lipid metabolic process; signal transduction; lipid transport; phosphorylation

Product Notes

The MIER1 chka (Catalog #AAA9434670) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MIER1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MIER1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:50-1:300. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MIER1 chka for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MIER1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
