Preparation and Storage
Storage:
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 4°C for frequent use.
Aliquot and store at -20°C for 24 months.

Stability Test:
thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the microtubule-associated protein family. The proteins of this family are thought to be involved in microtubule assembly, which is an essential step in neurogenesis. The products of similar genes in rat and mouse are neuron-specific cytoskeletal proteins that are enriched in dentrites, implicating a role in determining and stabilizing dentritic shape during neuron development. A number of alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

MAP2: a member of the microtubule-associated protein (MAP) family. Its exact function is unknown but MAPs appear to stabilize the microtubules against depolymerization. They also seem to have a stiffening effect on microtubules. Expressed at high levels in neural tissue and the prostate. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q34

Cellular Component: cell soma; cytosol; dendrite; dendritic shaft; microtubule; microtubule associated complex; neuron projection; nuclear periphery; nucleolus; postsynaptic density

Molecular Function: calmodulin binding; microtubule binding; protein binding; structural molecule activity

Biological Process: axonogenesis; cellular response to organic substance; central nervous system neuron development; dendrite morphogenesis; establishment of cell polarity; microtubule bundle formation; microtubule cytoskeleton organization; neuron projection development; regulation of axonogenesis

Product Notes

The MAP2 map2 (Catalog #AAA2003826) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Microtubule Associated Protein 2 (MAP2) reacts with Homo sapiens (Human) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Microtubule Associated Protein 2 (MAP2) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry Paraffin (IHC-P), Immunohistochemistry Frozen (IHC-F), ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). WB: 0.5-2ug/mL; 1:260 - 1000 IHC: 5-20ug/mL; 1:26 - 100 ICC: 5-20ug/mL; 1:26 - 100 Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAP2 map2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Microtubule Associated Protein 2 (MAP2), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
