NCBI Description

kinase involved in signal transduction in the cell [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

MEK5: a dual specificity protein kinase of the STE7 family. Activates ERK5 and is itself phosphorylated and activated by MEKK3, as well as by atypical protein kinase C isoforms. Involved in growth factor stimulated cell proliferation and muscle cell differentiation. Four alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Protein kinase, STE; Protein kinase, dual-specificity (non-receptor); Kinase, protein; EC 2.7.12.2; STE group; STE7 family

Cellular Component: membrane; spindle; intracellular; nucleus; cytosol

Molecular Function: MAP kinase kinase activity; protein serine/threonine kinase activity; metal ion binding; protein-tyrosine kinase activity; ATP binding; protein kinase activity

Biological Process: peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation; negative regulation of heterotypic cell-cell adhesion; activation of MAPK activity; heart development; MAPKKK cascade; negative regulation of interleukin-8 biosynthetic process; negative regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; negative regulation of caspase activity; protein amino acid phosphorylation; positive regulation of protein metabolic process; positive regulation of cell growth; inhibition of NF-kappaB transcription factor; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; positive regulation of epithelial cell proliferation

Product Notes

The MEK5 map2k5 (Catalog #AAA9411307) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MEK5(phospho-Ser311/ Thr315) Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MEK5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western blotting: 1:500~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MEK5 map2k5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MEK5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
