NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that interacts with the oncoprotein mouse double minute 2. The encoded protein regulates progression through the cell cycle and may be involved in tumor formation. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]

Uniprot Description

MTBP: Inhibits cell migration in vitro and suppresses the invasive behavior of tumor cells. May play a role in MDM2-dependent p53/TP53 homeostasis in unstressed cells. Inhibits autoubiquitination of MDM2, thereby enhancing MDM2 stability. This promotes MDM2-mediated ubiquitination of p53/TP53 and its subsequent degradation. Belongs to the MTBP family.

Protein type: Ubiquitin conjugating system

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q24.12

Cellular Component: kinetochore; chromatin

Biological Process: negative regulation of cell proliferation; traversing start control point of mitotic cell cycle; negative regulation of mitosis; cell cycle arrest

Product Notes

The MDM2BP mtbp (Catalog #AAA3015485) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MDM2BP Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Chicken, Dog, Pig, Cow, Horse, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MDM2BP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:100-500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MDM2BP mtbp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MDM2BP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
