NCBI Description

The Ra-reactive factor (RARF) is a complement-dependent bactericidal factor that binds to the Ra and R2 polysaccharides expressed by certain enterobacteria. Alternate splicing of this gene results in two transcript variants encoding two RARF components that are involved in the mannan-binding lectin pathway of complement activation. The longer isoform is cleaved into two chains which form a heterodimer linked by a disulfide bond. The encoded proteins are members of the trypsin family of peptidases. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

MASP2: Serum protease that plays an important role in the activation of the complement system via mannose-binding lectin. After activation by auto-catalytic cleavage it cleaves C2 and C4, leading to their activation and to the formation of C3 convertase. Defects in MASP2 are the cause of MASP2 deficiency (MASPD). MASPD is a disorder that results in autoimmune manifestations, recurrent severe infections, and chronic inflammatory disease. Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The MASP2 masp2 (Catalog #AAA820118) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-MASP2 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MASP2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB (1/500 - 1/1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MASP2 masp2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MASP2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
