Biological Significance
MAPKAPK 2 is a 45 54 kDa serine threonine protein kinase that contains a proline rich sequence and two putative SH3 binding sites. MAPKAPK 2 is activated in response to stress, IL 1 and TNF, possibly catalyzed by p38/Hog dependent phosphorylation. One of the major substrates of MAPKAPK 2 is hsp27, which stimulates actin polymerization in order to facilitate recovery from destruction of cytoskeleton during cellular stresses. Two isoforms are produced due to alternative splicing of the same gene which differs in their C terminals. This antibody recognizes both isoforms.
Cross-Reactivity
Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Bovine
Immunogen
MAPKAPK 2 antibody was raised in Rabbit using synthetic peptide surrounding amino acid 365 of mouse MAPKAPK-2 as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Store at -20 degree C. For long-term storage, aliquot and freeze at -70 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

MAPKAPK2: a member of the MAPKAPK family of protein kinases. It is phosphorylated and activated by p38 in response to cytokines, stress and chemotactic factors.MAPKAPK-2 is apparently a direct target of p38 MAPK. HSP27 is one of its in vivo substrates. Two transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been described.

Product Notes

The MAPKAPK 2 mapkapk2 (Catalog #AAA837314) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's MAPKAPK 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). WB: 0.5-4 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAPKAPK 2 mapkapk2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MAPKAPK 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
