Related Product Information for anti-MAP1LC3B antibody
Autophagy is a process of intracellular bulk degradation in which cytoplasmic components, including organelles, are sequestered within double-membrane vesicles that deliver the contents to the lysosome/vacuole for degradation. During macroautophagy, the sequestering vesicles, termed autophagosomes, fuse with the lysosome or vacuole resulting in the delivery of an inner vesicle (autophagic body) into the lumen of the degradative compartment. There are 16 proteins participating in the autophagy pathway in humans. The autophagy protein LC3, a mammalian homologue of Atg8, was originally identified as microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3. It is a component of both the MAP1A and MAP1B microtubule-binding domains and the heavy-chain independent regulation of LC3 expression may modify MAP1 microtubule-binding activity during development. LC3 is the only known mammalian protein identified that stably

NCBI Description

The product of this gene is a subunit of neuronal microtubule-associated MAP1A and MAP1B proteins, which are involved in microtubule assembly and important for neurogenesis. Studies on the rat homolog implicate a role for this gene in autophagy, a process that involves the bulk degradation of cytoplasmic component. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

LC3B: is a ubiquitin-like protein that is a constituent of the ATG8-conjugation system, one of two evolutionarily conserved phosphatidylethanolamine conjugation systems necessary for the formation of the autophagosome. The human ATG8 system includes seven ubiquitin-like light chain proteins (LCPs) that are homologs of yeast LC3: MAP1LC3A, -B, -C, GABARAP, GABARAPL1, -2, and -3. Pro-LCPs are cleaved by ATG4B to expose a C-terminal glycine residue, the cytosolic LCP-I form. The exposed C-terminus is conjugated to the head group amine of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) through an amide bond by a sequence of ubiquitination-like reactions that involves an E1 (ATG7), an E2 (ATG3), and an E3 (a complex including ATG5, ATG12, and ATG16L). The PE-congugated form (LCP-II) is tightly associated with the autophagosomal membrane. The LCP-II forms can also be delipidated by the ATG4 proteases: most of the LCPs are delipidated and liberated from the membrane before autophagosomes fuse with lysosomes. Interacts at microtubules with CABP1 (via EF-hands 1 and 2) but not with calmodulin. Recruits proteins such as SQSTM1 and NBR1 to the autophagosome.

Product Notes

The MAP1LC3B map1lc3b (Catalog #AAA613995) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MAP1LC3B (LC3B, Autophagy Related Protein LC3B, Autophagy Related Ubiquitin-like Modifier LC3B, MAP1 Light Chain 3-like Protein 2, Microtubule Associated Proteins 1A/1B Light Chain 3B, MAP1A/1B Light Chain 3B, MAP1A/MAP1B LC3B, Microtubule Associated Prot reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MAP1LC3B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAP1LC3B map1lc3b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MAP1LC3B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
