NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the microtubule-associated protein family. The proteins of this family are thought to be involved in microtubule assembly, which is an essential step in neurogenesis. The product of this gene is a precursor polypeptide that presumably undergoes proteolytic processing to generate the final MAP1B heavy chain and LC1 light chain. Gene knockout studies of the mouse microtubule-associated protein 1B gene suggested an important role in development and function of the nervous system. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

MAP1B: the function of brain MAPS is essentially unknown. Phosphorylated MAP1B may play a role in the cytoskeletal changes that accompany neurite extension. Possibly MAP1B Binds to at least two tubulin subunits in the polymer, and this bridging of subunits might be involved in nucleating microtubule polymerization and in stabilizing microtubules.

Product Notes

The MAP1B map1b (Catalog #AAA6425290) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MAP1B (Microtubule Associated Protein 1B, MAP5, FUTSCH) (HRP) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MAP1B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:2000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MAP1B map1b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MAP1B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
