NCBI Description

This gene is one of several Cys-Cys (CC) cytokine genes clustered on the q arm of chromosome 16. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins involved in immunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The CC cytokines are proteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines. The cytokine encoded by this gene displays chemotactic activity for monocytes, dendritic cells, natural killer cells and for chronically activated T lymphocytes. It also displays a mild activity for primary activated T lymphocytes and has no chemoattractant activity for neutrophils, eosinophils and resting T lymphocytes. The product of this gene binds to chemokine receptor CCR4. This chemokine may play a role in the trafficking of activated T lymphocytes to inflammatory sites and other aspects of activated T lymphocyte physiology. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CCL22: May play a role in the trafficking of activated/effector T-lymphocytes to inflammatory sites and other aspects of activated T-lymphocyte physiology. Chemotactic for monocytes, dendritic cells and natural killer cells. Mild chemoattractant for primary activated T-lymphocytes and a potent chemoattractant for chronically activated T-lymphocytes but has no chemoattractant activity for neutrophils, eosinophils, and resting T-lymphocytes. Binds to CCR4. Processed forms MDC(3-69), MDC(5-69) and MDC(7-69) seem not be active. Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family.

Product Notes

The MDC ccl22 (Catalog #AAA6485791) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Macrophage Derived Chemokine (MDC, MDC(1-69), A-152E5.1, ABCD-1, CC Chemokine STCP-1, C-C Motif Chemokine 22, Chemokine (C-C Motif) Ligand 22, CCL22, DC/B-CK, MGC34554, Small Inducible Cytokine A22, SCYA22, Stimulated T-cell Chemotactic Protein 1, STCP-1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Macrophage Derived Chemokine can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Functional Assay, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Functional Assay: 5-7ug/ml ELISA: 0.5ug/ml WB: 0.1-0.2ug/ml Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MDC ccl22 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Macrophage Derived Chemokine, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
