Related Product Information for anti-OLR1 antibody
Oxidized low-density lipoprotein receptor 1 (Ox-LDL receptor 1 or OLR1), also known as lectin-type oxidized LDL receptor 1 (LOX1), is a receptor protein that belongs to the C-type lectin superfamily. LOX1 is a multi-ligand receptor originally identified as the endothelial oxidized LDL receptor. OLR1/LOX1 was isolated from an aortic endothelial cell, and recently it has been discovered in macrophages and vascular smooth muscle cells in artery vessels. The expression of LOX1 is induced by inflammatory stimuli and oxidative stimuli. This protein binds, internalizes, and degrades oxidized low-density lipoprotein. LOX1 may play an important role in the progression of vulnerable carotid plaque and might regulate vulnerable plaque formation in cooperation with MMPs and TIMP-2. In clinical, LOX1 is thought to be involved in the development of atherosclerotic lesions.

NCBI Description

receptor for oxidized low-density lipoprotein that may be involved in pathogenesis of hypertension as well as atherosclerosis [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

Function: Receptor that mediates the recognition, internalization and degradation of oxidatively modified low density lipoprotein (oxLDL) by vascular endothelial cells. OxLDL is a marker of atherosclerosis that induces vascular endothelial cell activation and dysfunction, resulting in pro-inflammatory responses, pro-oxidative conditions and apoptosis. Its association with oxLDL induces the activation of NF-kappa-B through an increased production of intracellular reactive oxygen and a variety of pro-atherogenic cellular responses including a reduction of nitric oxide (NO) release, monocyte adhesion and apoptosis. In addition to binding oxLDL, it acts as a receptor for the HSP70 protein involved in antigen cross-presentation to naive T-cells in dendritic cells, thereby participating in cell-mediated antigen cross-presentation. Also involved in inflammatory process, by acting as a leukocyte-adhesion molecule at the vascular interface in endotoxin-induced inflammation. Also acts as a receptor for advanced glycation end (AGE) products, activated platelets, monocytes, apoptotic cells and both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Ref.2 Ref.4

Subunit structure: Homodimer; disulfide-linked. May form a hexamer composed of 3 homodimers. Interacts with HSP70

Subcellular location: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor

By similarity. Cell membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein

By similarity. Membrane raft

By similarity. Secreted

Tissue specificity: Predominantly expressed in lung and at lower level in kidney. Expressed in macrophages but not in vascular smooth muscle cells. Ref.1

Induction: By hypertension. Up-regulated by shear stress, lipopolysaccharide and TNF-alpha in cultured vascular endothelial cells. Ref.1 Ref.2

Domain: The cytoplasmic region is required for subcellular sorting on the cell surface

By similarity. The C-type lectin domain mediates the recognition and binding of oxLDL

By similarity. The Neck region contains 3 internal repeats that are only found in rodents.

Post-translational modification: N-glycosylated

By similarity.

Sequence similarities: Contains 1 C-type lectin domain.

Product Notes

The OLR1 olr1 (Catalog #AAA8103307) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-LOX-1 Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LOX-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin (IHC-P). IHC-P: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the OLR1 olr1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LOX-1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
