Livin Polyclonal Antibody

Applications
Immunoblot, Western Blot
Synonyms
Livin; Polyclonal Antibody; Livin Polyclonal Antibody; anti-Livin antibody
Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
Rabbit
Clonality
Polyclonal
Specificity
Livin [This rabbit antibody recognizes aa 264-80 (short form) and aa 271-298 (long form) of human Livin.]
This antibody recognizes human Livin, a novel member of the IAP protein family. Livin contains a single baculoviral IAP repeat domain and a RING finger domain and has two isoforms, Livin- alpha and Livin- beta . Transfection of Livin in cells results in protection from apoptosis induced by FADD, Bax, RIP, RIP3, and DR6. Livin interacts directly with caspase-3, -7, and -9 and inhibits the activation of caspase-9 induced by Apaf-1, cytochrome c, and dATP.
Form/Format
100 ug IgG in PBS, pH 7.4, purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Applicable Applications for anti-Livin antibody
Immunoblot
Application Notes
Immunoblotting: use at 2-4 ug/ml. In immunoblots, a band of 33 kD is detected. A weak band at 30 kD is detected in Raji cell lysate and probably represents the short form of human Livin.
Positive control: Raji cell lysate.
Antigen
Peptide corresponding to aa 264-280 of the short form and aa 281-298 of the long form of human Livin.
Stabilizer
None
Preservatives
0.02% sodium azide
Dilutions Instructions
Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system.
Preparation and Storage
This antibody is stable for at least one (1) year at -20 degree C. Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

NCBI Official Full Name
LIVIN

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis protein (IAP) family, and contains a single copy of a baculovirus IAP repeat (BIR) as well as a RING-type zinc finger domain. The BIR domain is essential for inhibitory activity and interacts with caspases, while the RING finger domain sometimes enhances antiapoptotic activity but does not inhibit apoptosis alone. Elevated levels of the encoded protein may be associated with cancer progression and play a role in chemotherapy sensitivity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]

Product Notes

The Livin (Catalog #AAA194296) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Livin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoblot. Immunoblotting: use at 2-4 ug/ml. In immunoblots, a band of 33 kD is detected. A weak band at 30 kD is detected in Raji cell lysate and probably represents the short form of human Livin. Positive control: Raji cell lysate. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Livin for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Livin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
