NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
Function: Positively regulates the activity of the minus-end directed microtubule motor protein dynein. May enhance dynein-mediated microtubule sliding by targeting dynein to the microtubule plus end. Required for several dynein- and microtubule-dependent processes such as nuclear migration during cell division, mitotic spindle formation and the removal of mitotic checkpoint proteins from kinetochores at the metaphase to anaphase transition. Required for several aspects of neurogenesis including neuroblast proliferation, neuronal cell differentiation, dendritic growth, branching and maturation and axonal transport. Required for synchronized cell divisions in the germline, fusome integrity and oocyte differentiation. Acts together with BicD, Egl, dynein and microtubules to determine oocyte identity during oogenesis. Also required for nurse cell to oocyte transport during oocyte growth and for the positioning of the nucleus in the oocyte. Ref.1 Ref.2 Ref.8 Ref.9 Ref.10 Ref.11
Subunit structure: Interacts with dynein and dynactin. Does not interact with Paf-A-Halpha. Ref.3 Ref.11
Subcellular location: Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton. Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton › centrosome
By similarity. Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton › spindle pole. Chromosome › centromere › kinetochore. Note: Localizes to the plus end of microtubules. Also localizes to the mitotic spindle poles from late prophase through to telophase and to kinetochore microtubules in metaphase. Localization to kinetochore microtubules is reduced in anaphase and telophase. In oocytes, it concentrates in the cortex from stage 5 of oogenesis. Ref.2 Ref.11
Tissue specificity: Expressed primarily in germline cells during oogenesis. Low levels are detected in the germarium in regions 1 and 2 and in both nurse cells and the oocyte in stage 2-4 egg chambers. Enriched in the oocyte during stages 5-7 and in nurse cells in stage 8-10 egg chambers. Ubiquitously distributed in early embryos. Expressed throughout cell bodies, dendrites and axons of the mushroom-body neurons. Ref.1 Ref.8 Ref.9
Developmental stage: Expressed both maternally and zygotically. Expressed throughout all developmental stages but is most abundant at precellular blastoderm stages; expression declines after gastrulation. Expressed at higher level in adult females. Following germ-band retraction it is enriched in the developing central nervous system. In third-instar larvae, low levels are detected in the brain hemispheres and imaginal disks. Ref.8
Domain: Dimerization mediated by the LisH domain may be required to activate dynein
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the WD repeat LIS1/nudF family.Contains 1 LisH domain.Contains 7 WD repeats.
Sequence caution: The sequence AAC83821.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation. Translation N-terminally extended.

Product Notes
The Lis-1 lis-1 (Catalog #AAA7198823) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit anti-Drosophila melanogaster (Fruit fly) Lis-1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Drosophila melanogaster (Fruit fly) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Lis-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), WB (Western Blot) (ensure identification of antigen). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Lis-1 lis-1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Lis-1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
