Related Product Information for anti-LIMK2 antibody
There are approximately 40 known eukaryotic LIM proteins, so named for the LIM domains they contain. LIM domains are highly conserved cysteine-rich structures containing 2 zinc fingers. Although zinc fingers usually function by binding to DNA or RNA, the LIM motif probably mediates protein-protein interactions. LIM kinase-1 and LIM kinase-2 belong to a small subfamily with a unique combination of 2 N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal protein kinase domain. The protein encoded by this gene is phosphorylated and activated by ROCK, a downstream effector of Rho, and the encoded protein, in turn, phosphorylates cofilin, inhibiting its actin-depolymerizing activity. It is thought that this pathway contributes to Rho-induced reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton. At least three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Uniprot Description

LIMK2: a TKL kinase of the LISK family that regulates actin dynamics. Contains two N-terminal LIM motifs. Phosphorylated and activated by PAK1 and ROCK, downstream effectors of Rho. Phosphorylates cofilin, inhibiting its actin-depolymerizing activity. May contributes to Rho-induced reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton. Two alternative splice variants have been identified.

Protein type: EC 2.7.11.1; Kinase, protein; LIMK subfamily; LISK family; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); Protein kinase, TKL; TKL group

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q12.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; protein serine/threonine kinase activity; signal transducer activity

Biological Process: phosphorylation

Product Notes

The LIMK2 limk2 (Catalog #AAA4150375) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-LIMK2 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LIMK2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:500 - 1:2000 IHC: 1:50- 1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LIMK2 limk2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LIMK2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
