Background: Receptor for R-spondins that potentiates the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and acts as a marker of multipotent stem cells in the epidermis. Upon binding to R-spondins (RSPO1, RSPO2, RSPO3 or RSPO4), associates with phosphorylated LRP6 and frizzled receptors that are activated by extracellular Wnt receptors, triggering the canonical Wnt signaling pathway to increase expression of target genes. In contrast to classical G-protein coupled receptors, does not activate heterotrimeric G-proteins to transduce the signal. May act as a tumor suppressor.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the leucine-rich repeat-containing subgroup of the G protein-coupled 7-transmembrane protein superfamily. The encoded protein is a glycoprotein hormone receptor with a large N-terminal extracellular domain that contains leucine-rich repeats important for the formation of a horseshoe-shaped interaction motif for ligand binding. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

LGR6: a leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor. Receptor for R-spondins, potent stimulators of adult stem cell proliferation. A marker of adult stem cells. A Wnt receptor component that enhances Wnt signaling by soluble R-spondin proteins. A marker of a multipotent population of skin stem cells. Three isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The LGR6 lgr6 (Catalog #AAA7600999) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The LGR6 Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's LGR6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). WB : 1:200-1:1000 IHC : 1:20-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LGR6 lgr6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "LGR6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
