Biological Significance
The KL1P1 gene is mapped to chromosome 6p21.1. The KLIP1 gene contains 9 exons and spans about 5 kb. And KLIP1 also contains an N-terminal signal sequence, followed by an extracellular domain, 5 transmembrane regions, and a cytoplasmic C-terminal sequence. KLIP1 expression closely correlated with hematopoietic activity in both intra- and extra-embryonic hematopoietic sites. In day 30/32 human embryo sections, KLIP1 protein expression was restricted to circulating hematopoietic cells at hematopoiesis sites.
Immunogen
KLIP1 antibody was raised in Rabbit using a synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the N-terminal of human KLIP1, identical to the related rat and Rabbit sequences, as the immunogen
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. For long term storage aliquot and store at -20 degree C, avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

The centromere is a specialized chromatin domain, present throughout the cell cycle, that acts as a platform on which the transient assembly of the kinetochore occurs during mitosis. All active centromeres are characterized by the presence of long arrays of nucleosomes in which CENPA (MIM 117139) replaces histone H3 (see MIM 601128). MLF1IP, or CENPU, is an additional factor required for centromere assembly (Foltz et al., 2006 [PubMed 16622419]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]

Uniprot Description

CENPU: Component of the CENPA-NAC (nucleosome-associated) complex, a complex that plays a central role in assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression and chromosome segregation. The CENPA-NAC complex recruits the CENPA-CAD (nucleosome distal) complex and may be involved in incorporation of newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres. Plays an important role in the correct PLK1 localization to the mitotic kinetochores. A scaffold protein responsible for the initial recruitment and maintenance of the kinetochore PLK1 population until its degradation. Involved in transcriptional repression. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell cycle regulation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q35.1

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; microtubule organizing center; cytosol; nucleus

Biological Process: nucleosome assembly; DNA replication-independent nucleosome assembly at centromere; chordate embryonic development; transcription, DNA-dependent; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; viral reproduction; mitotic cell cycle

Product Notes

The KLIP1 cenpu (Catalog #AAA5302190) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's KLIP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Optimal conditions to be determined by the end user. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KLIP1 cenpu for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KLIP1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
