KIF26B Antibody
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
KIF26B: Essential for embryonic kidney development. Plays an important role in the compact adhesion between mesenchymal cells adjacent to the ureteric buds, possibly by interacting with MYH10. This could lead to the establishment of the basolateral integrity of the mesenchyme and the polarized expression of ITGA8, which maintains the GDNF expression required for further ureteric bud attraction. Belongs to the kinesin-like protein family. KIF26 subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Motor; Microtubule-binding
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q44
Cellular Component: cytoplasm; kinesin complex; microtubule
Molecular Function: ATP binding; microtubule binding; plus-end-directed microtubule motor activity
Biological Process: axon guidance; cytoskeleton-dependent intracellular transport; establishment of cell polarity; metabolic process; microtubule-based movement; positive regulation of cell-cell adhesion; protein localization
