NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
member of the keratin gene family; type I keratins are acidic proteins that heterodimerize with type II keratins in the formation of hair and nails [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
K15: a type I cytoskeletal keratin. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. There are two types of cytoskeletal and microfibrillar keratin: type I (acidic; 40-55 kDa) [K9 to K20] and type II (neutral to basic; 56-70 kDa) [K1 to K8]. Both a basic and an acidic keratin are required for filament assembly.
Protein type: Cytoskeletal
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q31
Cellular Component: intermediate filament; keratin filament; nucleus
Molecular Function: structural constituent of cytoskeleton
Biological Process: cytoskeleton organization; intermediate filament-based process

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Keratin 15 (KRT15), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
