Related Product Information for anti-KCNAB1/Kvbeta1 antibody
Voltage-gated K+ channels in the plasma membrane control the repolarization and the frequency of action potentials in neurons, muscles and other excitable cells. The KV gene family encodes more than 30 proteins that comprise the subunits of the K+ channels, and they vary in their gating and permeation properties, subcellular distribution and expression patterns. Functional KV channels assemble as tetramers consisting of pore-forming å subunits (KV), which include the KV1, KV2, KV3 and KV4 proteins, and accessory or KV-subunits that modify the gating properties of the coexpressed KV subunits. KV?, also known as KCNAB1 (potassium voltage-gated channel, shaker-related subfamily, beta member 1), is a 419 amino acid accessory K+ channel protein that exists as three alternatively spliced isoforms and regulates the activity of the pore-forming å subunit. It is expressed in brain, with highest levels detected in caudate nucleus, hippocampus and thalamus.

NCBI Description

Potassium channels represent the most complex class of voltage-gated ion channels from both functional and structural standpoints. Their diverse functions include regulating neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume. Four sequence-related potassium channel genes - shaker, shaw, shab, and shal - have been identified in Drosophila, and each has been shown to have human homolog(s). This gene encodes a member of the potassium channel, voltage-gated, shaker-related subfamily. This member includes three distinct isoforms which are encoded by three alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene. These three isoforms are beta subunits, which form heteromultimeric complex with alpha subunits and modulate the activity of the pore-forming alpha subunits. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Kv-beta1: Accessory potassium channel protein which modulates the activity of the pore-forming alpha subunit. All three isoforms alter the functional properties of Kv1.4 and Kv1.5. Isoform KvB1.2 has no effect on Kv1.1, Kv1.2 or Kv2.1. Belongs to the shaker potassium channel beta subunit family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The KCNAB1/Kvbeta1 kcnab1 (Catalog #AAA3005592) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The KCNAB1/Kv beta 1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Chicken, Dog, Pig, Cow, Rabbit, Sheep and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's KCNAB1/Kv beta 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KCNAB1/Kvbeta1 kcnab1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KCNAB1/Kv beta 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
