Related Product Information for anti-KLK1 antibody
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. The KLK6 enzyme is regulated by steroid hormones. In tissue culture, the enzyme has been found to generate amyloidogenic fragments from the amyloid precursor protein, suggesting a potential for involvement in Alzheimer's disease.

NCBI Description

Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. This gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. This protein is functionally conserved in its capacity to release the vasoactive peptide, Lys-bradykinin, from low molecular weight kininogen. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Glandular kallikreins cleave Met-Lys and Arg-Ser bonds in kininogen to release Lys-bradykinin.

Catalytic activity: Preferential cleavage of Arg-|-Xaa bonds in small molecule substrates. Highly selective action to release kallidin (lysyl-bradykinin) from kininogen involves hydrolysis of Met-|-Xaa or Leu-|-Xaa.

Tissue specificity: Isoform 2 is expressed in pancreas, salivary glands, kidney, colon, prostate gland, testis, spleen and the colon adenocarcinoma cell line T84. Ref.4

Post-translational modification: The O-linked polysaccharides on Ser-93, Ser-104 and Ser-167 are probably the mucin type linked to GalNAc. In Ref.13, GalNAc was detected with the corresponding peptides but not located.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Kallikrein subfamily.Contains 1 peptidase S1 domain.

Product Notes

The KLK1 klk1 (Catalog #AAA649453) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Kallikrein 6, ID (KLK6, PRSS18, PRSS9, Kallikrein-6, Neurosin, Protease M, SP59, Serine protease 18, Serine protease 9, Zyme) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Kallikrein 6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Flow Cytometry, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:50-100 Immunohistochemistry: 1:10-50 Flow Cytometry: 1:10-50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the KLK1 klk1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Kallikrein 6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
