Related Product Information for anti-JAG1 antibody
The LIN-12/Notch family of transmembrane receptors plays a central role in development by regulating cell fate decisions (1). Ligands for Notch include JAG1, JAG2 and Delta. JAG1 is one of the DSL (Delta, Serrate, Lag2) transmembrane proteins that can activate Notch. It is involved in mammalian cardiovascular development and in cell-fate decisions during hematopoiesis (1,2). JAG1 is widely expressed in adult and fetal tissues and the mutation of the JAG1 gene is associated with Familial Tetrology of Fallot (3). JAG1 expression is associated with prostate cancer metastasis and is up-regulated in cervical squamous cell carcinoma (4,5).

NCBI Description

The jagged 1 protein encoded by JAG1 is the human homolog of the Drosophilia jagged protein. Human jagged 1 is the ligand for the receptor notch 1, the latter a human homolog of the Drosophilia jagged receptor notch. Mutations that alter the jagged 1 protein cause Alagille syndrome. Jagged 1 signalling through notch 1 has also been shown to play a role in hematopoiesis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

JAG1: Ligand for multiple Notch receptors and involved in the mediation of Notch signaling. May be involved in cell-fate decisions during hematopoiesis. Seems to be involved in early and late stages of mammalian cardiovascular development. Inhibits myoblast differentiation. Enhances fibroblast growth factor-induced angiogenesis (in vitro). Interacts with NOTCH2 and NOTCH3. Interacts with NOTCH1 (in the presence of calcium ions). Widely expressed in adult and fetal tissues. In cervix epithelium expressed in undifferentiated subcolumnar reserve cells and squamous metaplasia. Expression is up-regulated in cervical squamous cell carcinoma. Expressed in bone marrow cell line HS-27a which supports the long-term maintenance of immature progenitor cells.

Product Notes

The JAG1 jag1 (Catalog #AAA153705) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The JAG1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's JAG1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). JAG1 antibody can be used for detection of JAG1 by Western blot at 1 - 2 mug/ml. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the JAG1 jag1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "JAG1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
