Western Blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx 37kDa band in Human Brain (Cerebral Cortex and Hippocampus) and Mouse Brain lysates after 0.5ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 46.4kDa according to NP_473452.2. The 37kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.

This protein is likely responsible for the conversion of inositol hexakisphosphate (InsP6) to diphosphoinositol pentakisphosphate (InsP7/PP-InsP5). It may also convert 1,3,4,5,6-pentakisphosphate (InsP5) to PP-InsP4. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2008]
