NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This cytokine is produced by activated macrophages as a proprotein, which is proteolytically processed to its active form by caspase 1 (CASP1/ICE). This cytokine is an important mediator of the inflammatory response, and is involved in a variety of cellular activities, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. The induction of cyclooxygenase-2 (PTGS2/COX2) by this cytokine in the central nervous system (CNS) is found to contribute to inflammatory pain hypersensitivity. This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
IL1B: Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. Monomer. Belongs to the IL-1 family.

Product Notes
The IL1B il1b (Catalog #AAA423465) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-IL-1 beta Antibody reacts with Tested: Human; Expected from sequence similarity: Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IL-1 beta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 128000. Western Blot: Approx 30kDa band observed in Human Peripheral Blood Mononucleocytes lysates (calculated MW of 30.7kDa according to NP_000567.1). Recommended concentration: 1-3ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL1B il1b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-1 beta, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
