NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a scaffold protein and a regulator for three different kinases involved in proinflammatory signaling. The encoded protein can bind NF-kappa-B-inducing kinase and I-kappa-B kinases through separate domains and assemble them into an active kinase complex. Mutations in this gene have been associated with familial dysautonomia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]

Uniprot Description

May act as a scaffold protein that may assemble active IKK-MAP3K14 complexes (IKKA, IKKB and MAP3K14/NIK).Acts as subunit of the RNA polymerase II elongator complex, which is a histone acetyltransferase component of the RNA polymerase II (Pol II) holoenzyme and is involved in transcriptional elongation. Elongator may play a role in chromatin remodeling and is involved in acetylation of histones H3 and probably H4. Involved in cell migration. Involved in neurogenesis (). Regulates the migration and branching of projection neurons in the developing cerebral cortex, through a process depending on alpha-tubulin acetylation ().

Product Notes

The IKBKAP elp1 (Catalog #AAA7108911) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The IKBKAP Antibody, Biotin conjugated reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's IKBKAP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IKBKAP elp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IKBKAP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
