NCBI Description

The neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) has been implicated in a wide range of psychiatric conditions and also has vasoconstrictive and vasodilatory effects. The gene described in this record is a member of 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) receptor family and encodes a multi-pass membrane protein that functions as a receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine and couples to G-proteins. This protein has been shown to function in part through the regulation of intracellular Ca2+ mobilization. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

5-HT(5A): This is one of the several different receptors for 5- hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.

Protein type: Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, multi-pass; GPCR, family 1; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q36.1

Cellular Component: Golgi apparatus; rough endoplasmic reticulum; integral to plasma membrane; dendrite; plasma membrane; perikaryon

Molecular Function: serotonin receptor activity

Biological Process: G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; G-protein signaling, coupled to cyclic nucleotide second messenger; cAMP-mediated signaling; hippocampus development; response to estradiol stimulus; serotonin receptor signaling pathway

Product Notes

The HTR5A htr5a (Catalog #AAA240017) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rabbit Polyclonal to Human HTR5A / 5-HT5A Receptor reacts with Gibbon, Bovine, Dog, Guinea pig, Gorilla, Horse, Human, Monkey, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HTR5A / 5-HT5A Receptor can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC - Paraffin), ELISA (EIA). ELISA, IHC-P (10 ug/ml) Usage: Immunohistochemistry: was validated for use in immunohistochemistry on a panel of 21 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) human tissues after heat induced antigen retrieval in pH 6.0 citrate buffer. After incubation with the primary anti.. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HTR5A htr5a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HTR5A / 5-HT5A Receptor, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
