NCBI Description

Histamine is a ubiquitous messenger molecule released from mast cells, enterochromaffin-like cells, and neurons. Its various actions are mediated by a family of histamine receptors, which are a subset of the G-protein coupled receptor superfamily. This gene encodes a histamine receptor that is predominantly expressed in haematopoietic cells. The protein is thought to play a role in inflammation and allergy reponses. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2009]

Uniprot Description

H4R: The H4 subclass of histamine receptors could mediate the histamine signals in peripheral tissues. Displays a significant level of constitutive activity (spontaneous activity in the absence of agonist). Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: GPCR, family 1; Membrane protein, integral; Membrane protein, multi-pass; Receptor, GPCR

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 18q11.2

Cellular Component: plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: histamine receptor activity

Biological Process: G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; elevation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration; regulation of MAPKKK cascade; inflammatory response

Product Notes

The HRH4 hrh4 (Catalog #AAA7118590) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HRH4 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HRH4 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IF: 1:200-1:1000 ELISA: 1:5000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HRH4 hrh4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HRH4, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
