Related Product Information for anti-HOXA9 antibody
HOXA9 is a well-studied member of the HOXA cluster, and it plays a significant role in both normal hematopoiesis and leukemogenesis. HOXA9 is expressed in EC (Endothelial Cells) and its expression is rapidly downregulated during EC activation by inflammatory signals like TNF-alpha (Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha) and LPS (lipopolysaccharide). In humans, HOXA9 was found to be highly expressed and required in some subtypes of leukemia, particularly mixed lineage leukemia (MLL)-rearranged leukemia. The aberrant overexpression of HOXA9 is thought to be associated with poor survival of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients.

NCBI Description

In vertebrates, the genes encoding the class of transcription factors called homeobox genes are found in clusters named A, B, C, and D on four separate chromosomes. Expression of these proteins is spatially and temporally regulated during embryonic development. This gene is part of the A cluster on chromosome 7 and encodes a DNA-binding transcription factor which may regulate gene expression, morphogenesis, and differentiation. This gene is highly similar to the abdominal-B (Abd-B) gene of Drosophila. A specific translocation event which causes a fusion between this gene and the NUP98 gene has been associated with myeloid leukemogenesis. Read-through transcription exists between this gene and the upstream homeobox A10 (HOXA10) gene.[provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011]

Uniprot Description

HOXA9: Sequence-specific transcription factor which is part of a developmental regulatory system that provides cells with specific positional identities on the anterior-posterior axis. Required for induction of E-selectin and VCAM-1, on the endothelial cells surface at sites of inflammation. A chromosomal aberration involving HOXA9 is found in a form of acute myeloid leukemia. Translocation t(7;11)(p15;p15) with NUP98. A chromosomal aberration involving HOXA9 may contribute to disease progression in chronic myeloid leukemia. Translocation t(7;17)(p15;q23) with MSI2. Belongs to the Abd-B homeobox family.

Protein type: DNA-binding; Oncoprotein

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7p15.2

Cellular Component: nucleus

Molecular Function: enzyme binding; protein binding

Biological Process: endothelial cell activation; multicellular organismal development; negative regulation of myeloid cell differentiation

Product Notes

The HOXA9 hoxa9 (Catalog #AAA668680) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to HOXA9 reacts with Human Predicted: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HOXA9 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1-2 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HOXA9 hoxa9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HOXA9, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
