Related Product Information for anti-HMGN1 antibody
Chromosomal protein HMG14 and its close analog HMG17 (MIM 163910) bind to the inner side of the nucleosomal DNA, potentially altering the interaction between the DNA and the histone octamer. The 2 proteins may be involved in the process that maintains transcribable genes in a unique chromatin conformation. Their ubiquitous distribution and relative abundance, as well as the high evolutionary conservation of the DNA-binding domain of the HMG14 family of proteins, suggest that they may be involved in an important cellular function.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene binds nucleosomal DNA and is associated with transcriptionally active chromatin. Along with a similar protein, HMG17, the encoded protein may help maintain an open chromatin configuration around transcribable genes. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Uniprot Description

HMGN1: a nonhistone chromosomal protein of the HMG-14/HMG-17 protein family. Binds to the inner side of the nucleosomal DNA thus altering the interaction between the DNA and the histone octamer. May be involved in the process which maintains transcribable genes in a unique chromatin conformation.

Protein type: Nuclear receptor co-regulator; DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 21q22.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; nucleus; chromatin

Molecular Function: nucleosomal DNA binding; DNA binding

Biological Process: regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; establishment and/or maintenance of chromatin architecture; transcription-coupled nucleotide-excision repair; positive regulation of RNA elongation; pyrimidine dimer repair via nucleotide-excision repair; regulation of development, heterochronic; post-embryonic camera-type eye morphogenesis; response to UV-C; regulation of epithelial cell proliferation; response to UV-B

Product Notes

The HMGN1 hmgn1 (Catalog #AAA6307321) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HMGN1, NT (HMGN1, HMG14, Non-histone chromosomal protein HMG-14, High mobility group nucleosome-binding domain-containing protein 1) (Biotin) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HMGN1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). IHC: 1:10-50 ELISA: 1:1,000 WB: 1:100-500 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HMGN1 hmgn1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HMGN1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
