Applicable Applications for anti-HMGA2/HMGI-C antibody
Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB)
Application Notes
Applications Validated:
IP: 10ul per IP
WB: 1:1,000-1:5,000 dilution
Note: Many chromatin-bound proteins are not soluble in a low salt nuclear extract and fractionate to the pellet. Therefore, we recommend a High Salt/Sonication Protocol when preparing nuclear extracts for Western blot.
Immunogen
This HMGA2 antibody was raised against a peptide within the N-terminal region of human HMGA2/HMGI-C.
Preparation and Storage
Some products may be shipped at room temperature. This will not affect their stability or performance. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles by aliquoting items into single-use fractions for storage at -20 degree C for up to 2 years. Keep all reagents on ice when not in storage.1ug/ul

Short Description: Our HMGA2/HMGI-C antibody (pAb) was raised in a Rabbit host. It has been validated for use in Immunoprecipitation and Western blot; it has been shown to react with Human and Mouse samples.

Background: HMGA2 (High-mobility group AT-hook protein 2, HMGI-C) is a member of the HMG (High mobility group) protein family, which are non-histone chromatin-associated proteins involved in DNA organization and regulation of transcription. The HMG protein family consists of six proteins and is subdivided into three subfamilies: the HMG-1/-2 subfamily, the HMG-I/Y subfamily and the HMG-14/-17 subfamily. Mouse models of HMGA2 function indicate that it is involved in proliferation at the cellular level and obesity at the organismal level. Overexpression of HMGA2 is observed in a variety of cancers.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the non-histone chromosomal high mobility group (HMG) protein family. HMG proteins function as architectural factors and are essential components of the enhancesome. This protein contains structural DNA-binding domains and may act as a transcriptional regulating factor. Identification of the deletion, amplification, and rearrangement of this gene that are associated with myxoid liposarcoma suggests a role in adipogenesis and mesenchymal differentiation. A gene knock out study of the mouse counterpart demonstrated that this gene is involved in diet-induced obesity. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

HMGA2: Functions as a transcriptional regulator. Functions in cell cycle regulation through CCNA2. Plays an important role in chromosome condensation during the meiotic G2/M transition of spermatocytes. Interacts with E4F1. Interacts with NEK2. Belongs to the HMGA family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The HMGA2/HMGI-C hmga2 (Catalog #AAA388731) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The HMGA2/HMGI-C antibody (pAb) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's HMGA2/HMGI-C can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). Applications Validated: IP: 10ul per IP WB: 1:1,000-1:5,000 dilution Note: Many chromatin-bound proteins are not soluble in a low salt nuclear extract and fractionate to the pellet. Therefore, we recommend a High Salt/Sonication Protocol when preparing nuclear extracts for Western blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HMGA2/HMGI-C hmga2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "HMGA2/HMGI-C, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
