NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene may play a role in the attachment of stem cells to the bone marrow extracellular matrix or to stromal cells. This single-pass membrane protein is highly glycosylated and phosphorylated by protein kinase C. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

Uniprot Description

CD34: Possible adhesion molecule with a role in early hematopoiesis by mediating the attachment of stem cells to the bone marrow extracellular matrix or directly to stromal cells. Could act as a scaffold for the attachment of lineage specific glycans, allowing stem cells to bind to lectins expressed by stromal cells or other marrow components. Presents carbohydrate ligands to selectins. Selectively expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells and the small vessel endothelium of a variety of tissues. Belongs to the CD34 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell surface; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q32

Cellular Component: intercellular bridge; lysosome; integral to plasma membrane; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; cytoplasm; apical plasma membrane; basal plasma membrane; plasma membrane; external side of plasma membrane

Molecular Function: sulfate binding; carbohydrate binding; transcription factor binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of odontogenesis; regulation of immune response; negative regulation of nitric oxide biosynthetic process; glomerular filtration; cell motility involved in cell locomotion; negative regulation of blood coagulation; negative regulation of tumor necrosis factor production; signal transduction; positive regulation of interleukin-10 production; cell proliferation; cell-cell adhesion; positive regulation of angiogenesis; endothelial cell proliferation; regulation of blood pressure; tissue homeostasis; hemopoiesis; leukocyte migration

Product Notes

The CD34 cd34 (Catalog #AAA623273) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Hematopoietic Progenitor Kinase 1 (HPK1, Mitogen-activated Protein Kinase Kinase Kinase Kinase 1, MAP4K1, MAPK/ERK Kinase Kinase Kinase 1, MEK Kinase Kinase 1, MEKKK 1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Hematopoietic Progenitor Kinase 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1/32,000. Western Blot: Approx 95-100kD band observed in Jurkat (predicted MW of 96kD according to NP_009112). Recommended for use at 0.5-2ug/ml., Staining (0.5ug/ml) of Jurkat lysate (RIPA buffer, 35ug total protein per lane). Primary incubated for 1 hour. Detected by western blot using chemiluminescence. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD34 cd34 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Hematopoietic Progenitor Kinase 1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
