Host
Sheep
Clonality
Polyclonal
Isotype
IgG
Specificity
This item is specific for human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG), a 30kD hormone produced by placental syncytiotrophoblasts. hCG acts to maintain the corpus luteum until the developing placenta is able to produce the required levels of oestrogen and progesterone.

hCG shares a common alpha chain with the pituitary hormones FSH, TSH and LH, but has a unique beta chain. This antibody reacts with intact hCG.

NCBI Description

The four human glycoprotein hormones chorionic gonadotropin (CG), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) are dimers consisting of alpha and beta subunits that are associated noncovalently. The alpha subunits of these hormones are identical, however, their beta chains are unique and confer biological specificity. The protein encoded by this gene is the alpha subunit and belongs to the glycoprotein hormones alpha chain family. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]

Product Notes

The hCG cga (Catalog #AAA220742) is an Antibody produced from Sheep and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's hCG can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). ELISA: Minimum Dilution: 1/500; Maximum Dilution: 1/1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the hCG cga for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "hCG, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
