NCBI Description

This gene is one of 60 loci associated with autosomal-recessive nonsyndromic hearing impairment. This gene encodes a protein which contains GRX-like domains; these domains play a role in the S-glutathionylation of proteins and may be involved in actin organization in hair cells. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]

Uniprot Description

GRXCR1: May play a role in actin filament architecture in developing stereocilia of sensory cells. Defects in GRXCR1 are the cause of deafness autosomal recessive type 25 (DFNB25). DFNB25 is characterized by moderate to severe or profound hearing loss which is progressive in some individuals but not in others. Speech development is impaired in some but not all affected individuals and vestibular dysfunction is observed in some affected individuals. Belongs to the GRXCR1 family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4p13

Cellular Component: stereocilium

Molecular Function: electron carrier activity; protein disulfide oxidoreductase activity

Biological Process: inner ear receptor stereocilium organization and biogenesis; sensory perception of sound; cell redox homeostasis; inner ear receptor cell development; auditory receptor cell differentiation; vestibular receptor cell development; post-embryonic organ morphogenesis

Disease: Deafness, Autosomal Recessive 25

Product Notes

The GRXCR1 grxcr1 (Catalog #AAA9203129) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 83-112. The GRXCR1 Antibody (Center) reacts with Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's GRXCR1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GRXCR1 grxcr1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "GRXCR1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
